In 2006 Michael Milazzo received his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of San Francisco, and is an independent Geriatric Care Manager working for over five years with Aging Matters Inc, San Francisco.  Michael is also a volunteer risk-reduction counselor in a San Francisco community health clinic, he maintains this and his own professional blog, and leads several groups and community-based senior and dementia care forums for family members who have a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias.

Michael’s primary work as a Geriatric Care Manager focuses on enhancing the life of the older person with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias through individual counseling, family counseling, group counseling, psychoeducation, ongoing assessment, care management, and patient advocacy. Close contact with the client’s family, doctors and care givers allows Michael to effectively aid the elder client, and to maintain or increase independence whenever possible.
