Aging Matters, Inc. was created in response to individuals, families and physicians seeking expert help in enhancing the life of the older person with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Our mission is to provide the highest quality care options and choices for the older person and their families. Aging Matters, Inc was developed in 1998.
Jane L. Mahakian, Ph.D. is founder and President of Aging Matters, Inc.. Dr. Mahakian is the former Director of the Elder Care Referral Program at the University of California San Francisco for nearly 10 years. Dr. Mahakian holds a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology, is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and member of the National Association of Geriatric Care Managers. Dr. Mahakian is an adjunct faculty member at California State Fullerton, teaches continuing education unit classes at assisted living communities, serves as a consultant to assisted living and dementia communities state-wide and presents seminars and trainings on aging and dementia for corporations and hospitals.

Quality of care and service are an integral part of Aging Matters, Inc.In light of this, Dr. Mahakian and her staff maintain a small caseload of older adults, assuring personalized care and attention to detail. All work is performed under the direct supervision of Dr. Jane L. Mahakian, this assuring continuity and quality of all services performed.
Our basic principal is to promote the emotional well-being of the older person by validating the person and involving him or her in decision-making as long as possible. It is vital to promote the person’s self-esteem and sense of independence throughout all stages of Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementias.
